How To Start Selling Popcorn
Every Scout Can Participate
Popcorn isn’t just for the Scouts who want to be top sellers.
Every Scout can set a goal and contribute.
Some Scouts may sell to family and friends. Others may spend a Saturday working a storefront. Some may build their sales through online orders. Many will use a combination of all three.
There is no single right way to sell.
What matters is that every Scout has the opportunity to try, learn, grow, and earn their way.
Unit leaders and parents play an important role in making that happen. A little encouragement, a reminder about an upcoming storefront shift, or helping a Scout set a personal goal can make a tremendous difference.
Ways To Sell
Trail’s End provides several ways for Scouts to reach customers. Successful units often use more than one. Explore below to see what options you or your scout can take advantage of.
Scouts work together at a participating business or community location, meeting customers face-to-face and offering popcorn directly.
Storefronts are a great way for Scouts to build confidence and learn how to make a friendly, effective sales pitch.
Scouts can sell directly to family, friends, neighbors, and members of their community.
This is a great opportunity for Scouts to practice their sales pitch and build relationships with customers who want to support their Scouting adventure.
Scouts can share their Trail’s End online storefront with friends and family, allowing customers to purchase popcorn online.
Online sales can be especially useful for reaching customers who live outside Alaska or who aren’t able to visit a storefront.
Use every tool available. The best sales program is the one that gives every Scout a way to participate.
